June 10
Today Leanne wanted to walk partly to church with her friends and have us pick them up on our way there. The answer was a definite NO but it does say something more about her progress! She's come a long way again this week. Her wheelchair came home with her, but it has not really been used, as she's walking everywhere herself. She's even sleeping upstairs again, to her delight. She does have to pace herself, and gets tired quite easily. The therapists keep warning her against doing too much, too fast. Now there is more discussion about when she can actually think about coming home. It sounds like it will not be too many more weeks, as long as they can find something closer to home to go to for therapy. Although that still sounds too long for her, it's pretty exciting for us. She's in a wonderful place, and doing well there, but it's not the same as being home. So the countdown is on!

That is such exciting news! Keep up the good work, Leanne!
ReplyDeleteSomething for your mom to think about when she comes this way:
A man at the airline counter tells the rep. “I’d like this bag to go to Berlin, this one to California, and this one to London.
The rep says, “I’m sorry sir. We can’t do that.”
The man replied: Nonsense. That is what you did last time I flew with you."
good news! the progress is fantastic. tell her from her nasty ol' a.jane that along with the therapy, sleep heals. Tired is good and she should should rest too! Hope the homecoming is soon.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed and so grateful for all of you.
ReplyDeleteLeanne, I think your ol' a. jane has some wise words there ;) Keep up the good work but do pace yourself.
Hello Leanne and all the people who love you
ReplyDeleteI"ll try this again, I have not been able to give a comment on your blog, (Is that a sign of age? :)) time and again I wanted to let you know that here at the Van Andel household all of you are remembered in prayer. Wow God is indeed good. Looking back, who would dare think this. We prayed, but were overwhelmed with fear. So thankful that God is your and our God, He has His plan and purpose. Leanne keep trusting and depending on that God.
Wish you all the best as you battle with probably the longest couple weeks of your hospitalization, I am sure you can do it.
Love The Brian Van Andel clan from down the road
Wow, doesn't the Lord shame us with our unbelief and doubt? But take it easy, Leanne, Rome wasn't built in a day. You have a better chance at regaining your old life back if you take it easy and slow! But good job, girl! Your determination alone is remarkable.
ReplyDeletewow! Leanne! that's fantastic news! are you enjoying the new additions in your room? keep up the hard work! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing, the progress you are making Leanne. It takes hard work to make it happen, but untill the experts decide you are ready do not rush going home too soon. A complete recovery takes time and God's healing hand. We wish you all the best each day as you fight on.
